The second song “Antikuina”, the Song of Wisdom, is an invocation of the Ancestral spirits of the Ayahuasca medicine and of the individual to come to that place right there, into the ayahuasca ceremony. This is what we do to call upon and bring in the wisdom of the Ancient Ones to help us whenever we do an ayahuasca ceremony.
An Invocation to the Ancestors to Help in Ayahuasca Ceremony...
"Antikuina" is a really powerful song because it brings in and is invocating the Ancestors of the Ayahuasca and those that are of that realm and working on the other side to help us.
It is similar to when we practice Sundance Singing when, for example, we will always say a little prayer before we start to sing. At our singing practices, for example, I always say to the spirits, “there is no need to come here, it is just a practice, go to wherever you are needed and help those people who are calling upon you instead”. Even if it is something like a practice we always say a little prayer so that the Spirits know what our request is, and why we are doing what we are doing. We do this because someone else might need those spirits there instead.
For the Ayahuasca way it is the Antikuina song that brings in the spirits.
We call them Ancestors because that is who was before us. That is why we do this, to honour them, to contact them, to get to know who they are through the Ayahuasca medicine.

It is simple, we can just make it simple, it is bringing in the Ancestral spirits of our people, and of the medicine, and maybe they will show themselves to people who are wanting to learn this, so that they are taught the right way and in a respectful way.

In the ceremony the most important thing is for people to understand why they are there, besides that Ayahuasca is a mind-altering medicine, and part of that is to learn a new way of being, to learn this Indigenous way of prayer.
Native people are taught these ways since we were little kids. Non-native culture, Eurocentric thinking, they don’t look at a rock like we do, they look at a rock and says, that is just a rock. We look at a rock and say that it has a spirit in it too, it has energy in it too, although it is denser and slower, but it still has a spirit in it. We look at plants in the same way, as having spirits. That is the big difference in the way of thinking between Eurocentric culture and Native culture. Europeans came here and saw this land but never asked, “how do you think?”, or, “how do you do things?”, to be objective. In Native culture it is a different paradigm, we are brought up as children to respect everything, that everything has a spirit, and has a reason to be here, just like we do. In the ceremony the most important thing is for people to understand why they are there, besides that Ayahuasca is a mind-altering medicine, and part of that is to learn a new way of being, to learn this Indigenous way of prayer.

"eso te lleva al mundo del Shaman"....
It is not magic because there is nothing magical about it. It is what it is, it is the reality, the reality of this medicine, the essence of the medicine. La Ayahuasca is a medicine that can take you to this world.
The medicine it takes you, as they say at home, “eso te lleva al mundo del Shaman”. It takes you to the world of the Shamans’ or the Shaman’s world. The Shaman are the ones, like the raven and the crow, they can travel in between the realms of those worlds, this physical world and the next one. They say that this is the magic that the Shamans’ have, although perhaps magic is not the right word, it is another word besides magic. It is not magic because there is nothing magical about it. It is what it is, it is the reality, the reality of this medicine, the essence of the medicine. La Ayahuasca is a medicine that can take you to this world. That is why it is so important that the person who facilitates the ayahuasca ceremony knows these things. I could just say, and generalize and say, “all non-native people don’t know that”, but there are some that do know, because the medicine does not discriminate as we do as human beings. That also is a lesson.

“Antikuina” is always one of the first songs to be sung to begin each ceremony, to invoke this wisdom of the Ancestral spirits, after the song “Soplando” to the directions. The words of this song are in the Quechua language but that is the understanding that I received from those that understand the Quechua language, that this is what this song means.
In Ayahuasca ceremony this Song of Wisdom is followed by the next song “Takisqaqujakakanqu” the Ayahuasca icaro of or for healing.
