Ayahuasca Mushrooms Brewed Together: Traditional Use of Ayahuasca and Magic Mushrooms Peru:
Sometimes the Ayahuasca medicine is mixed with “Hongos”, or Psychedelic mushrooms (Ayahuasca and Magic Mushrooms), and this is the song of the “Hongos” and their healing attributes. In a similar manner, some people may mix into the Ayahuasca brew other herbs such as Jacruna or Datura (Jimson Weed). It just depends on the person who is running the ceremony and what he/she has been taught and has learned from his/her teachers on down, from the past and bringing the knowledge forward. Hongos are one of these medicines that they may add to the Ayahuasca brew. The Ayahuasca is a vine, or “una soga”, and it comes off of a tree and it is twisty. They will cut the Ayahuasca vine into pieces and then they boil it for 24-48 hours. What they do with the Hongos is they mix them in with the Ayahuasca when the Ayahuasca is brewing.
What they do with the Ayahuasca Mushrooms (Ayahuasca and Magic Mushrooms)
What they do with the Hongos (Psychedelic Mushrooms) is they mix them in with the Ayahuasca when the Ayahuasca is brewing...
This song, “Hongos” refers to the healing properties of “el hongos” (mushrooms) and what they do for the individual who ingests the brew, which is to help that person into an altered space of awareness. After the individual ingests the plants they will enter the world of the Shaman. In that place the Shaman can help them with any kind of problems that he/she may see that are connected to that individual in an etheric manner. To the Shaman it would be like a client and he/she helps the individual with their healing. Certain people have that gift to help others with that. It is still the person that must do the work of healing, but the Shaman leads the person to the door, the individual has to walk through that door. The same goes with anything with this medicine, or any kind of medicines that are used for healing, especially this type of healing. “Hongos” is a song of going into that parallel state, an altered state of awareness. Like the song says, “caminando por el aire me voy…”, I am walking in the air, floating in the air, “cantando con hongos estoy” and I am singing while I am on the mushrooms. The stairway leads you to the heavens. Through this you learn. “augatierra feugo aire….” You learn about and connect with the earth, the air, the fire the elements of life that we live with. It is the spirit of the Hongos that is teaching and guiding the individual. When the song then says, “Por eso estamos aqui para conocer la muerte”, it means that this is why we are here, it is to recognize what death is by our experience of life. To prepare for and recognize what death is, then there is no fear in the concept of death, then we are free of this fear. There is such a negative connotation to death, but in the world of the Shaman and the Medicine death is like a promotion, going into another plane. The only thing that really dies is this shell that we live in here, that we call a body. Also, there is the death of the emotional, maybe the anger or the fear, death of the things that hold us back. We all have these. Listen and Download all Ayahuasca Icaros on the Songs of the Night Album
These medicines show us everything.
When you are on the medicine it is not like you can't control yourself, of course you can. You see the earth, you see your surroundings, you feel your body. It is just that your mind has opened up.

These medicines, like the ayahuasca and mushrooms, help to open up our minds...
They help to penetrate the veil that closes at birth, the veil that holds all consciousness, everything in the moment. When this veil lifts you can be everywhere, see everything, and know everything, you are one with the consciousness that is, the spirit of everything in a very abstract way.
Once you are born that veil closes and we don’t remember it and this is because then while on this earth we have to learn the lessons that we have to learn in this lifetime. In traditional Indigenous cultures these are our tools, the Hongos, the Ayahuasca, and the Peyote that can help us. What we do here is all-natural, no chemicals, it comes from the earth, it is a medicine from the earth, to help us so that we can heal.
Hopefully with that people can learn more about themselves and grow, and make their lives much better so that then they can make the lives of their family members, their children, their loved ones, their neighbours, and their community can also improve and become better. There is always room for improvement. That is what all these medicines are for, they are not to tear you down, not to tear the psyche down. As Native Indigenous people, we know that the Mother Earth would not do that. She would not create something like that. The only way that the medicine would do that is if is abused. The only one that is going to abuse that is us because we have that choice.
This song of the “Hongos” talks about opening up the mind, removing that veil and stepping into that world, that is our world right now, it is just at a different level, at an advanced level. Listen and Download all Ayahuasca Icaros on the Songs of the Night Album.

About Songs of the Night Ayahuasca Songs from the Jungle Album
While I was there in Peru these medicine songs were personally gifted to me by a medicine man from the Loretto region. I hope that by sharing these songs that they may reach out to you, to show and help give an understanding of what is involved when working with “La Ayahuasca”. I sing these songs to you with great respect, and from my heart, so that they may heal and reveal to you the medicine that they carry within. These songs tell a story within themselves…Listen and Download all Ayahuasca Icaros on the Songs of the Night Album
